The donation drive aims to help agencies with growing needs

Findlay, Ohio, (October 30, 2020) – 1st Choice Family Services (1CFS), dedicated to providing essential and uncompromising quality services to developmentally disabled individuals in Ohio, is asking their neighbors to join them in answering the needs of fellow Ohioans during its first “Mission Giveback” .

Mission Giveback’s goal is to collect donations for those experiencing increasing hardships brought on by the current health crisis. 1st Choice Family Services offices in both Findlay and Columbus are participating in donation collections at both locations through December 12, 2020.

In Findlay, the donations are slated to benefit the Hope House, City Mission and the Salvation Army.

1st Choice is collecting nonperishable food for the Findlay area City Mission.  The City Mission houses the homeless and feeds those in need three times daily. It reports the need for food donations is particularly great right now.  The Hope House, with a mission of eliminating homelessness and alleviating poverty in Hancock County, has an increasing need for basic toiletries for women and children and cleaning supplies. The Findlay Salvation Army’s need is for new or used coats and clothing for everyone from children to adults.

“There isn’t an Ohio community that hasn’t been touched by economic problems brought on by the pandemic, “says Aonist Coles, CEO of 1st Choice Family Services.   “We hope our Findlay neighbors will simply drop off items they can contribute at our office.  Any amount they can give is welcome!”

“The tough times are due to layoffs, furloughs and businesses shutting down.  The agencies that help those in need are now reaching out for extra help. There is also an uncertainty going into the winter about how many more people and businesses will be suffering too.”

1st Choice Family Services is known as an advocate for a vulnerable population- the developmentally disabled – and is considered an essential services organization.  It helps the disabled overcome life challenges through advocation, self development, informed decision making and total community integration. “Throughout the pandemic, we have continued to provide for our clients’ needs and have also included our clients in our volunteer efforts, which help them learn the importance of giving back in their communities.”

“Mission Giveback is really about all of us coming together and pitching in.   We hope the donations will make life a little better for many families.” Coles adds, “Never has it been a more important time to unite, donate and help each other get through the current rocky times.”
